Todays health care system is focused almost exclusively on the treatment of illness; that implies we, as people, are suffering from various deficiencies that can only be corrected through the use of medication. That includes stimulants, benzodiazepines, addicting pain medications just to name a few.
That being said, millions of Americans are prescribed medication, and do quite well, most often in conjunction with a solid health and wellness plan.
But are the health reform debates addressing the overreliance of medication in our health care system today? And could it be that we could drastically lower health care costs by utilizing medication more judiciously and conservatively?
